(31 July 1921 - 21 February, 2002) (Architect and Landscape Architect) Peacefully at home, surrounded by his wife Monika and friends; John was a retired Professor of Architecture from McGill University. He was an adventure-some thinker and hands-on builder. His concept was an "Architecture of necessity and Landscape of frugality:" which he energetically implemented in projects throughout Canada and in U.S.A. and Pakistan. It culminated in the design of his home Taybarn in Perth. During the Second World War, John was a lieutenant in the Polish Navy serving on destroyers, MTB and submarines out of Britain. He had close and loving friends in many parts of the world, especially in Montreal, Glasgow (Scotland) and Perth, Ontario. The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. in St. James Anglican Church, Drummond Street at Harvey Street in Perth, Ontario. Interment will be at St. Sauveur on Tuesday 26th February at 2:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at McGill University. Donations in John's memory to the Lanark Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 256, Lanark, Ontario, would be greatly appreciated.
