(1914-2002). At St-Mary's Hospital, Montreal, on Sunday, February 24, 2002, after a long, debilitating illness so bravely and stoically endured, John peacefully passed away leaving his beloved and devoted wife of sixty years, Erma Holden, his cherished daughter, Pamela Jeffrey and his dear grandchildren, Jane (Roger), Andrew, Christopher and Mark, all of Vancouver, brother Frederic, deceased sister Phyllis Markham, his devoted caregiver and friend Diane Martin, his especially kind nieces Denise Stefanik and Diane McCullum, Ontario and other relatives and friends. John was a retired Telecom (Nortel) executive, an honours graduate in science, Toronto University and Engineering, McGill. He was a life member of the Corporation of Professional Engineers of Quebec, member of the Engineering Institute of Canada, Canadian Operations Research Society and Institute of Management Sciences, a life member of Nortel Pioneers, Honorary Director of the Montreal Association for the Blind, past Commander of the Montreal Power and Sail Squadron, member of Mount Royal United Church, member of Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club. A man who loved the Arts and whose musical talents and paintings have given much pleasure to family and friends. His treasured memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at Mount-Royal United Church, 1800 Graham Blvd. Interment later in Markham, Ontario. If desired, memorial donations may be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice. The Montreal Gazette, 01-03-2002
