At the Hospice at May Court, Tuesday, March 5, 2002, age 56 years. Survived by daughter Elanor of Ottawa, son Ian Bernard (Jodi) of St. John's, Newfoundland, loving companion Gladys Kilpatrick of Ottawa, brother James (Vicki) of Peachland, British Columbia, nephews Carl of Vancouver and Mark of Kelowna and former wife Josephine of Ottawa. Born 1945, Wolverhampton, England, attended Shrewsbury School and Oxford University, MA (Jurisprudence). Emigrated to Canada 1967. Employed Public Service of Canada 1968-1996, including: Chief, Personnel Administration Section Foreign Region, Employment and Immigration Canada; Head, Work Force Adjustment Section, Policies and Procedures Group, Personnel Policy Branch, Treasury Board Secretariat; and Director, Locally Engaged Staff Abroad Division, Personnel Branch, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. 1996-2001 Principal of The Janiculum Group consultancy firm. Former President of the Ottawa Branch of the Oxford Society and the Elmwood School Association, and Secretary and Founding Member of the Canadian Immigration Historical Society. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, Friday 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, March 9, 2002 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow in the McGarry Family Reception Centre.
