KStJ, CD, MD Colonel, Canadian Forces Medical Service, (Retired) Passed away peacefully in hospital surrounded by his family on Tuesday 5 March 2002. Son of the late Daniel and Ellen Coleman of Maxville, Ontario, Roy is predeceased by his brothers Lawrence, Howard and John. Happily married to Norma (nee Bernard). Loving father of Marie (Gerry Scott), Bill and Susan, and cherished grandfather of Sarah Lethbridge, Laura and Christopher Scott. Dear brother-in-law of Ethel Coleman of Valleyfield, Quebec and Edythe Coleman of Maxville. Roy, who was born in Maxville in 1923, had a distinguished 33-year military career, serving first as an RCAF pilot in WWII and then as a physician of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in the Korean War. He retired from the Canadian Forces Medical Service in 1976 as a radiologist. Dr. Coleman's volunteer work with St. John Ambulance was recognized by his admission as a Knight of The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem. He was active with the Defence Medical Association, serving on the Executive and as President of the Eastern Ontario Branch. Friends may call at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road at Albion Road on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass Saturday at 1 p.m. in Holy Cross Church, 685 Walkley Road.
