PARKER, Nellie Rubina Age 77, of St. Croix, Hants County, passed away Friday, December 5, 2008, in the Hants Community Hospital with her sons at her side. Nellie was born on January 7, 1931, on the family farm in Cascumpec, Prince Edward Island, where she was the fifth of six children of the late Mathias Hamilton and Maud Eva (MacLean) Sweet. Her loves in life were her family, baking and animals, especially cats. Being a military wife she lived in various places, retiring with her husband to Nova Scotia. Surviving are her sons Gary Jon Parker, St. Croix; Terry Wayne Parker, Halifax and Georgetown, P.E.I.; sisters Jane Palmer, High Bank, Prince Edward Island; Anne Bowers, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; and Ida (Lyle) McManus, Ellershouse; sister-in-law Florence Buchanan, Roseneath, Prince Edward Island. She was predeceased by her husband John Herbert Freemont Parker on November 30, 1999; sister Serena Catherine Wedlock; brother John William Sweet. Nellie will also be missed by her feline friends Chloe, Timbit, Toby, Moe, Mr. Peckford and McGinty. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor, and there was no visitation by request. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2008, in the St. Croix United Church, St. Croix. No flowers by request.
