YOUNG, Zita Elizabeth 2008-12-09 It is with sorrow that the family of Zita Elizabeth Young of Paterson Court announces her passing on Sunday, December 7th 2008 in Thunder Bay Regional Hospital with her family at her side. Born in Fort William on December 11th 1916, Zita was the youngest surviving daughter of Stephen and Mary Tapsay. She was raised by her siblings in Westfort after the untimely demise of their parents. Zita attended St. Martin‘s and St. Patrick‘s High School and went on to Fort William Business College. She was employed by Northern Engineering and Supply Company for 30 years where she was a steno for a large group of supervisors (many of whom were close friends). Zita met Harry Young (from Tobermory) and they married in August 1943. They raised two sons Peter and David, who were their pride and joy. Camping at Sandy Beach, Chippewa was very important to Zita and she was happiest entertaining family, especially her grandchildren and friends by playing the organ for all to join in singing. Zita and Harry enjoyed many winters at Seminole, Florida. Zita was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1992, her parents, siblings and their spouses - Peter Tapsay (Eva), Irene Unick (Tom), Betty Klomp (Dutchy) and Julia Lamke (Bill). Zita is survived by her sons - Peter (Marlene) of Calgary, and David (Carol) of Thunder Bay and grandchildren Jason of Winnipeg, Jordan (Kristin and much beloved great grandson Dylan) of Detroit, Brandon of Winnipeg and Jenna Young of Toronto. She will also be missed by nieces Arleene Mapledoram and Gayle Hansen (Larry) and their families. Memorial Mass will be held in St. Elizabeth R.C. Church on Thursday, December 11th 2008 at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Rey Ronquillo. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Zita Young in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 28, 2009. On-line Condolences may be sent to www.blakefuneralchapel.com
