KVALIC, Amanda 2008-12-10 Amanda Kvalic The family and friends of Amanda Kvalic sadly announce her passing at St. Joseph‘s Hospice after a brief battle with breast cancer. Amanda was born in Mexico on Feb 6th, 1934. She immigrated to Canada 48 years ago with her husband Ron Kvalic, who predeceased her April 8th, 2007. Amanda was a beautician who worked at "The Continental" on Victoria Ave. She was a loyal employee of 32 years for Dorothy and Gary Durston and considered Dorothy to be her soul sister. She met many wonderful people through the shop and often spoke of "her ladies". Amanda enjoyed her colleagues and they often met socially and enjoyed each others company. Amanda loved animals and her lucky dogs and cats spent winters in Mexico and summers in Thunder Bay. They were well traveled, bilingual (Spanish and English) and of course spoiled as they should be. Amanda was predeceased by her husband Ron, three brothers. She is survived by 2 sisters in-law and numerous nieces and nephews in Mexico and the United States. Although Mexico was Amanda‘s birth place she came to love Canada and the life she created for herself. She realized all that her new country and its people had done to improve and shape her life. Amanda was a kind and gentle soul, every inch a lady and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Til we meet again, rest in peace Amiga! Services honoring the life of Amanda Kvalic will take place at Corpus Christi Church on Red River Rd. on Monday December 15th, at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations to the Northern Cancer Research or the Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be made through
