Mrs. Anna Pela December 9, 1923 - December 2, 2008 Anna Pela 1923 - 2008 Anna passed away with family by her side at Royal University Hospital on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the age of 84 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Myron (Sept 2007); granddaughter, Lesya Mandzuk; her parents, Joseph and Mary (Palchinski) Rybchynski; and sisters in law, Minnie and Mildred Rybchynski. Anna is survived by her daughter, Karen (Michael) Mandzuk; son, Roman (Darene) Pela; and grandchildren, Andrew and Alyssia Mandzuk, and Sherri, Laura, Sandra and Steven Pela. She is also survived by two brothers, Victor Rybchynski, Ted Rybchynski and Mary. Mom will be missed by her extended family, friends and acquaintances. Anna was born December 9, 1923 in the Vonda district. When she moved to Saskatoon she worked at the Delta Bessborough as a chambermaid and seamstress. She was also employed by Canada Post part time as a seasonal worker. Anna married Myron and together they raised their two children and were the proprietors of European Meats until 2000. Anna enjoyed embroidering and crocheting. She loved to bake and it was hard to tear her away from her garden. At her leisure she enjoyed spending time at the lake and fishing with her family. Prayers for Anna will be held on Sunday December 7, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of St. George, 214 Avenue M South, Saskatoon, SK. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in Anna’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
