Phyllis D.J. Porter May 12, 1926 - December 6, 2008 It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis Porter announces her passing on Saturday, December 6, 2008 in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 82 years. Phyllis is survived by her loving family: her brother Roy (Margaret) Simle of Moose Jaw, SK and beloved aunt of Pat (Mark) Collins of Atlanta, GA, Sharon (Don) Williams of Moose Jaw, SK, Gord (Carolyn) Simle of Calgary, AB; great-aunt to Matt, Jeff Collins, Craig (Katherine), Kevin Williams. She was predeceased by the great love of her life Bill Slattery and her parents Julius and Katie Simle. Phyllis had a “Heart of Gold” and a great sense of humour! She was very proud of her “big brother” Roy, and having had no children of her own, her two nieces, one nephew, and four great-nephews were very special to her, as she was to us. Phyllis was born in Dubuc, SK on May 12, 1926, later moving with her family to, and growing up in Watrous, SK. It was here that she worked at the CNR Railroad cook car and where she met Bill Slattery, a CNR Locomotive Foreman, before making Prince Albert home. Phyllis was a long-time and well-known resident of Prince Albert. She worked as a bookkeeper for Codville Wholesale and Lumberyard, and later worked for the Government of Saskatchewan, Forestry Department until her retirement. She was very involved in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Prince Albert Wildlife Federation volunteering at the many fund-raisings and dinners. Phyllis’ family and many friendships meant everything to her. She loved to visit her family in Moose Jaw, as well as family trips to Waskesiu-Prince Albert National Park. In later years her health prevented her from travel, but she did manage to get to Moose Jaw for her brother and sister-in-law’s 60th Wedding Anniversary in 2007, an occasion she was very proud of! The family would like to thank Phyllis’ long-time friend Pat Weir, as well as her friend and nurse Pat Chuey for their unending and precious friendship and for all the extra help they’ve given to both Phyllis and her family! Also to all the caring and compassionate staff at the “Good Shepherd Villa” who took such good care of Phyllis, and became like family to her! Auntie Phyllis lived her life for love of friends and family, touching the lives of so many others, and giving them the “Gift” of happy memories. A private family memorial service and interment will be held at a later date. Family and friends may send e-mail condolences to RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL is entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements. 764-2727 Lesley Gardner, Funeral Director
