Mrs. Regina Elizabeth Fraser April 18, 1933 - December 6, 2008 75, Halifax, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2008, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born In North Preston, she was a daughter of Martha (Beals) Horne - Fraser, Halifax, and the late James Horne. She was a member of the St. Thomas Baptist Church and a member of the B.Y.P.U. She worked in the Children's Hospital in Halifax. She was the first black female wrestler in North America. She enjoyed playing Bingo, pets and playing cards while at home. She loved cooking and taking care of her mother. Surviving are Regina's long-time companion, Percy Paris, Halifax; son, Paul (Darlene MacDonald), Timberlea; foster daughter, Joanne Beals, Dartmouth; brothers, James Horne, Brian Horne, both of Dartmouth; sisters, Jean Fraser, Ottawa, Ont.; Brenda (Brent) Grant, Waterbury, Conn.; grandchildren, Jasmine Fraser, Jordan Fraser, both of Timberlea; Godchildren, Leonard Simmonds, Halifax; Wanda Copeland, Dartmouth; Fellita Beals, Halifax, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her stepfather, James Fraser; brother, Curtis Horne; grandfather, Thomas Beals, Sr.; grandmother, Edith Beals. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Funeral service to be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 10 in St. Thomas Baptist Church, North Preston, Rev. Wallace Smith officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Regina's memory to St. Thomas Baptist Building Fund. On-line condolences may be sent to the family by visiting:
