CROSSMAN, ALFRED - Alfred Crossman passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday November 2, 2005 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born 1929 in Chipman he was the son of the late Harry and Fannie (Bishop) Crossman. Alfred is survived by his loving wife Grace (Shirley) Crossman; son Gregg (Lise) of Bolton, Ontario; daughter Darlene of Saint John; sister Edna Crossman of Chipman; two grandchildren Rebecca and Caleb; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers William, David, Ernest, Fred and Donald and sister Beulah. A graduate of the New Brunswick Teachers' College in 1947, Alfred took advances studies at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton and Pennsylvania State University, USA. He taught elementary for a number of years in Chipman, and served as Principal of South Bay School, Saint John, prior to accepting a teaching appointment at Saint John Vocational School. In later years, Alfred represented Poulenc Canada Ltd. Pharmaceuticals as a Commercial Traveler. He retired from employment with Royal LePage. Alfred served as both Provincial and Federal Returning Officer during several elections and was held in high regard for his honesty and fairness. Alfred was made an Honorary Life Member of the Conservative Party of New Brunswick. Also, he was Past President of the Saint John-Champlain Progressive Conservative Association. He was a Charter Member of Forest Hills Baptist Church. Alfred and Grace recently celebrated their 55th anniversary. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Alfred will be sorely missed by both his family and his friends. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and keen sense of humor. By request there will be no visitations. A Memorial Service will be held from Forest Hills Baptist Church on Saturday November 12, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Following the service a reception will be held in the hall of Forest Hills Baptist Church. The family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor's choice.
