Mr. Clarence A. Brown June 26, 1920 - December 12, 2008 BROWN, Clarence A. "Clarie" 88, Halifax, passed away Friday, December 12, 2008, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Daniel and Ida (Pyke) Brown. He was a veteran of the Second World War, who served overseas in Italy, France, Germany and Holland during liberation. Clarie was employed at the Halifax Dockyard until his retirement. He was a long-time member of Fairview Legion Branch No. 142. In his younger years, he also enjoyed his home workshop, which was a gathering place for many. He is survived by brothers, Edward and Arthur, both of Halifax; sisters, Mabel (Prescott) Rogers, Windsor; Dorothy Arkelian, Halifax; long-time companion, Effie Simms; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, John, Reg, Bob, Murray, Harold "Haddie"; sisters, Margaret and Lillian. Special thanks are extended to Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII for their wonderful care given to Clarie. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, where visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday with Legion service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Pat Malin officiating. A reception will immediately follow in Fairview Legion, 50 Hillcrest Ave, Halifax. Family flowers only.
