Mrs. Anne Lashyn January 19, 1913 - December 16, 2008 Anne Lashyn (nee Hnylycia) Anne was born on January 19, 1913, and passed away peacefully on December 16, 2008. Anne was the eldest of twelve children. She is survived by her sisters Effie Stacyszyn of Amherstburg, Ontario, and Helen (Kurt) Burkert of Winnipeg; brothers Henry (Lucy) Hnylycia of Yorkton, Harry Hnylycia of Ituna; daughter-in-law Grace Lashyn of Saskatoon; five grandchildren including Terry (Ileene) of Edmonton, Gerald (Brenda) of Saskatoon, Dwayne (Lisa) of Calgary, Luanne (Craig) Baun of Calgary, Laureen Lashyn of Calgary; twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by her mother Anastasia, her father, Nikola, her husband, Harry, all three of her sons, Kenneth, Lawrence and Eugene; her brothers Bill, Alex, Joe, Nick, and Mike; her sisters Mary Pazernuik and Eva Feduniw. Anne grew up in Hubbard Saskatchewan where she attended school. At age 16 she worked in the home of the Chipperfields in Hubbard. At age 17, Anne married Harry Lashyn. They spent over 65 wonderful years together. They rented a farm from Mrs. Jane Stilborn in Lorlie, SK, until 1946. They then moved with their sons near Balcarres where they bought a farm of their own. Anne was an active member of the UCWL, the Seniors Club, the Auxiliary Hospital and the Horticulture Society. Anne was an exceptional gardener. She always had a beautiful garden and won many competitions for her work. She was also a talented cook who often had a homemade pie ready for guests. After 25 years in Balcarres, Harry and Anne moved to Ituna, SK where they retired. After her husband’s passing, Anne moved to Saskatoon in 1996 to St. Volodymyr Villa. In her final years, she thoroughly enjoyed the many friends that she had, the visits from family, and of course baking. Anne will be forever remembered for her keen sense of humour, her beautiful warm smile, and the twinkle in her eyes. Prayers will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. Both services will be held in the Chapel of St. Volodymyr Villa, 3102 Louise Place, Saskatoon, SK, celebrated by Rt. Rev. Andrew Muzyka. Interment will be held in the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Ituna, SK. Donations in Anne’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Home, 33 Valens Drive, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 3S2 or BishopVelychkovsky Martyr’s Shrine, 250 Jefferson Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R2V 0M6.
