MACGOWAN - Mr. Alan Noble MacGowan, husband of Shirley (Bourque) MacGowan of 2797 Hwy 420 Matthew Settlement, passed away Wednesday evening, December 3, 2008, at his late residence, at the age of 72. Born in Hampton NB, he was the son of the late Alan & Leah (Frost) MacGowan. He was an architect of Chapel Stone Developments. He was a member of St Mary's Anglican Church, Miramichi East, member of NB Anglican Essentials, Founding member of Zacchaeus Fellowship, member of Monday Night Group, member of Miramichi Bikers Club, member of NB Christian Motorcycle Club. Besides his wife Shirley, he is survived by one step daughter; Heather Ladley; one sister; Phyllis (MacGowan) Currie of Quispamsis; one brother; Donald MacGowan (Merle) of Saint John; two step grandchildren; Brittney and Jonathan. Mr. Alan Noble MacGowan rested at Davidson's Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, Miramichi, with visitation on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The Funeral Service was held Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 3 p.m. from St Mary's Anglican Church, Wellington St, Miramichi, with Rev. Gordon Thompson officiating, assisted by Rev Alan Reynolds. Organist was Janet Stothart. Hymns were "Amazing Grace", "When Peace Like a River" and "How Great Thou Art". A CD selection was "I Then Shall Live". Soloist Barry McLean rendered "When He was on the Cross". A eulogy was given by Richard Nagle. A special tribute was given by Rev. Don Alcock. Layreaders were Eddie Quann and Teddy Quann. A reading was by Pastor Wendell England. Burial followed in Hampton Rural Cemetery. At the request of the family donations to Zacchaeus Fellowship, Full Gospel Chapel, or a memorial of ones choice would be appreciated. Active Pallbearers were: Peter Shearer, Gordon Greene, Lloyd Taylor (Christian Bikers), Harry Hoekman, Peter Wallace, Bruce Russell, (Golden Wing-Miramichi), Don Currie and Ranal Currie.
