Lula Mae Atkinson (Tootie), 70, of Richmond Settlement, NB passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the Upper River Valley Hospital. Tootie was born in Hartfield Corner, NB on May 22, 1937, daughter of the late Victor and Mona (Bragdon) Moorcroft. Tootie is survived by her husband Laurel of 52 years and her four sons Steven (Eileen), East Hampton, CT, William (Kathy), Beaver Dam, NB, Charles (Barb), Elmwood, NB, Ernest (May) Richmond Corner, NB, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her four sisters Myrna (Don) Cox, Hazel Farrell, Mary Power, Irene Beers and two brothers Alton (Liz) and Eldon (Muriel) Moorcroft. Tootie was an avid gardener, enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their cottage at First Eel River Lake. She also worked outside the home at the Carleton Manor for approximately 20 years. She was a life member of the Woodstock Order of the Royal Purple. Besides her parents, Tootie was predeceased by her sister Linda Smith, brother-in-laws Gordon Power and Wilmont Atkinson, niece Rhonda Cox and nephew Michael Moorcroft. Visitation was held at The Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville, NB on Saturday, September 20 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral service was held on Sunday, September 21 at 2 pm with Rev. Bev Brazier officiating, songs were sung by niece Kathy Cox, "In The Garden" and "Bye and Bye" a poem "She is Gone" was read by granddaughter Katilyn Atkinson. Pallbearers were sons Steven, William, Charles, Ernest and grandson Nicholas. Interment will be at the McKenzie Corner United Church Cemetery at a later date. The many floral tributes and charitable donations that were received showed the high esteem to which Tootie was held in the community.
