Irène Lauzon (née St-Amour), died at the Extendicare Nursing Home on April 25, 2004. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Lauzon was born on June 10, 1913 in Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette, Quebec. She lived in St. Catharines and Sudbury before returning to Kapuskasing in the late 1990s. The family said she will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and that in her healthier years she enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. Mrs. Lauzon was predeceased by her husband Louis, one grandson Denis Fillion and by all her brothers and sisters. She is survived by four sons, Gaston (Gisèle) of Cochrane, Alberta, Jules (Raymonde Ratté) of Kapuskasing, Gérald (Denise) of Ange Guardien, Quebec, and Arsene (Lorese) of Kapuskasing; two daughters, Marie Thériault of Hager and Louise Gutcher of Kapuskasing; and by 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Mrs. Lauzon will be resting at the funeral home today from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. and the funeral mass will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Immaculée Conception Church. Interment will take place in the spring at the Kapuskasing Cemetery.
