Roger Contant, Moonbeam, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on April 5, 2004. He was 76 years old. Mr. Contant was born on Aug. 8, 1927 in Clerque (Cochrane District) and was raised in Frederickhouse. He later settled in Hornepayne where he spent 22 years of his life and for the last 16 years he had been a resident of Moonbeam. He worked as a ‘car man’ for CN Railway for 38 years. He enjoyed the great outdoors and was a member of the Golden Age Club and the Knights of Columbus in Moonbeam. Mr. Contant was predeceased by son Donald, brother Léo and sister Cécile Robin. He is survived by his wife Marguerite, son Denis (Louise) of Hearst; daughters Claudette Contant of Ottawa and Natalie (Rick) Achilles of Kapuskasing and daughter-in-law Thérèse Contant of Orleans. Also surviving are brothers Robert (Réjeanne) of Kap, René (Micheline) of Virginiatown and Eugène (Geraldine) of Cochrane; sisters Rose (Roland) Courville, Irène (Maurice) Gravel, Marguerite (Omer) Lefebvre and Carmen (Larry) Lefebvre, all of Cochrane and Marie-Jeanne (John) Schribe of St-Thomas; and grandchildren Michel, Daniel, Stéphanie, Marie-Chantal, Jonathan, Gabrielle and Ricki-Lynn. Mr. Contant will be resting at the Nativité de Marie Parish Hall in Moonbeam from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. April 7. The funeral "Celebration of the Word" will be held April 8 at 3 p.m. at the Nativité de Marie Church. The burial will take place at the Moonbeam Cemetery later this spring.
