A memorial service for Hearst Notre-Dame Hospital resident Yvette Marie (née Soucy) Martel, 74, was held March 5, 2004. She died earlier that day. Born Sept. 16, 1929 in Moonbeam, she was a member of the committee that initiated what later became the Town of Hearst (Logepop) Non-Profit Housing Corp. Besides spending time with family, she enjoyed bingo, church activities, and the outdoors. Predeceased by her husband Bernard Martel of Hearst in 2001 and a grandson Jeff Scott of Brockville in 1995, she leaves her daughters Carole (Raymond) Paquin of Timmins, Lorraine (Robert) Verreault of Hearst, Mona (Wayne) Scott of Brockville, Nicole Martel of Coquitlam, B.C., and Nathalie Martel of Toronto, and sons Pierre of Hearst and Richard (Brigitte) Martel of St-Jérôme, Quebec. Also surviving are her brothers Guy (Noëlla) of North Bay, Simon (Solange) of Edmonton and Claude (Yvette) Soucy of Kincardine, Ont. Rev.
