Funeral services for retired Hearst hospital technician Bernadette (née Samson) Jomphe, 95, of the Foyer des Pionniers Nursing Home are to be held (today) Feb. 25, 2004. She died at the Foyer, Feb. 21. Born Oct. 30, 1908 in Lévis, Quebec, she came to the area around 1920. A Notre-Dame Hospital radiology technician since 1954, she retired in 1973. A member of the Filles d'Isabelle, she was a jovial person and active grandmother who was always ready to be of service. She was predeceased by her two sisters Marie-Alice Samson Bond and Sr Marie Blanche, and brothers Louis, Adrien, Albert, Jean-Charles, and Paul-Émile Samson. She leaves sisters-in-law Fernande (née Labrie) Samson of Hearst, and Fernande (née Faucher) Samson and Pauline (née Faucher) Samson, both of Wawa, as well as nieces and nephews. Rev. Réal Veilleux is to direct the 4:15 p.m. service at Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral. Interment will be at Monsignor Pierre Grenier Cemetery.
