SOUTHON, Philip Allan Wallis (Suds) - Peacefully, at the Meadows of Dorchester, Niagara Falls, ON., surrounded by the love of his family, Phil passed away to a better place on Thursday, May 13, 2004. Phil is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marie (nee Teichroeb) of Niagara Falls and his daughters, Judith (Robert) Cairns, Sarnia, Faith (David) Bell, Toronto, Alice (Dan) Sirard, Cornwall, Denise (Jeff) Eckhardt and Sandy (Rick) Herkimer, both of Niagara Falls. He was the very proud Papa to 13 grandchildren Melody Cairns (Grand Bend), Jill Cairns (Montreal) and Robynn Cairns (Sarnia), Alex, Vicki and Jenna Bell (Toronto), Melinda Sirard (St. Cathrines) and Darryl Sirard (Cornwall), Stephen, Brian and Andrew Eckhardt, and Ryne and Alexie Herkimer, all of Niagara Falls. Phil is also survived by his brother Earl (Doreen) Southon and his in-laws, George Hostick, Peter (Helene) Teichroeb, Donna (Ron) Rix, Susan Servos, John Teichroeb, Abe (Anne) Teichroeb and many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Alice (Wallis) Southon, his brother Ralph, his sister Alice Hostick, his in-laws, John and Judith Teichroeb, and his brothers-in-law Jake Teichroeb and Murl Servos. Phil retired from Port Weller Dry Docks in 1995 after 33 years of service. He was always known for his love of sports and was very active in bowling, darts and baseball (especially coaching his daughters) and in the later years was the biggest fan to his grandchildren's teams. He will be remembered for his humor and patience, after all he survived 20+ years living in a home with 6 women and 1 bathroom. May you finally rest in Peace, Dad. As were Phil's wishes, cremation has taken place and he is now resting at Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church St., St. Catharines, for visitation with family and friends on Sunday, May 16, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service wil be in the Hulse & English Chapel at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2004. Interment following at Pleasantview Gardens, Hwy 20, Fonthill.
