J. Lorne Rogers 1927-2006 J. Lorne Rogers, 79, of Riverview passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, August 7th 2006. Lorne persevered through his illness with great dignity and courage. He was born in North Sydney, N.S, on May 31st, 1927, the son of the late Jacob Rogers and Nelly Rogers (nee Bell). Lorne was a long time active member of the United Commercial Travelers. He advocated for many charitable community services through his affiliation with UCT. He was employed with Robin Hood Multifoods Limited as supervisor for the Atlantic region prior to his retirement in 1993. He truly enjoyed his work and colleagues. His marriage of 54 years to Gwen (nee Duffy) was the center of his life and his grandchildren Scott and Thomas a source of great joy and pride. His numerous friends knew him as a devoted, generous pal with a wonderful sense of humour who valued their many get to togethers. He was the beloved father of Steven Rogers (Ottawa), Paul Rogers (predeceased), Karen Rogers (Riverview) and Chris Rogers (Riverview), and the cherished Grampy of Scott Lloyd and Thomas Lloyd. He was the caring brother of Jean Miller (Halifax), Donna Stokes (Halifax) and Helen Hartling (Ottawa). Lorne was the respected and loved father-in-law of Ian Lloyd (Riverview) and Cheryl Snair (Ottawa). Besides his parents and son Paul, Lorne was predeceased by his two brothers Norman Rogers and Robert (Bob) Rogers. The family will receive friends at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, August 10th from 6 to 8 PM. The funeral service will held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 11 at St. Paul's United Church, 404 Cleveland Avenue Riverview. A reception for Lorne's family and friends will follow the service in the church hall. Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the staff at the Extra Mural Driscoll Unit, The Moncton Hospital, The Dr. George L. Dumont Hospital and their devoted friends for all their care and support during Lorne's illness. In memory of Lorne, donations may be made to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital, the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
