CHASE, FREDERICK S. Frederick S. Chase of Fredericton passed away peacefully with family at his side at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at the age of 89. A life long resident of Fredericton he was the son of the late Allen and Margaret (Murdock) Chase, and husband of the late Marie (Purdy) Chase. Fred was a member of Brunswick Street Baptist Church, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 Fredericton, Alexandria Lodge # 33 of the Masonic Order, the Fredericton Golf and Curling Club, the Fredericton Golden Club and the Jemseg Seniors Club. Fred was a former Councilor and Mayor of the Town of Marysville, and member of the School Board. He was an active sportsman having played soft ball and curling, as well as having coached Bantam and Midget baseball and junior hockey teams. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces from 1941 to 1946 being discharged with the rank of Captain. Following army service he was employed with the accounting firm of Ross Freewin Reevey, the Provincial Government and Tractors and Equipment Ltd. from which he retired in 1982 after 28 years of service. Survived by son Rick (Sheila); daughter Linda Fallon (Paul); grandchildren, Craig Chase, Cynthia Fletcher and Shelby Fallon; great-grandchildren, Cara Chase, Abbey and Jack Fletcher; one brother, Archie of Port Credit, On.; three sisters Evelyn Damery and Ethel Bamford of Saint John, NB and Marjorie Green of Grand Manan, NB; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, Marie, brother Allen and sister Louise. Visitation will be held at McAdams Select Community Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from Brunswick Street Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 15, 2006 at 1:00 pm. Rev. Dr. Terry Atkinson will officiate. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery. Those wishing to do so may make remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Lung Association. [The Daily Gleaner]
