MORGAN, RALPH W. The passing of Ralph W. Morgan of Fredericton occurred on Monday, August 14, 2006 at the age of 83. Born at South Devon, NB on March 7, 1923, he was the son of the late George and Mildred (Chase) Morgan. Ralph was a retired Civil Servant having worked for the Province of NB for 25 years. An employee of the former Chestnut Canoe Factory in Fredericton for a number of years, he was also an interior decorator and a painter. His first job as a young man was selling newspapers on the corner of York St. in Fredericton. A member of the Church of England, he attended St. Mary's Anglican Church in Devon. Ralph served overseas during WWII (1941-1945) with the 90th Field Battery and served in the Reserve Army after the war. He was a Life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No.4, Fredericton. A faithful volunteer at Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton, he was awarded one of their highest certificates of appreciation. Ralph will be remembered as a true friend and as a neighbour who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Ralph is survived by his five children, Carole-Ann McGee of Fredericton, David Morgan of Florenceville, Richard Morgan of Amherst Island, Ont., Martin Morgan of Quispamsis and Valerie Shaw of Saint John; 12 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; wife Lillian Margaret (Mathews) Morgan; brothers Kenneth, Raymond, Reginald and Norman and a sister Esther. Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, where visitation will be held Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at 2:00 PM with Canon Tom Smith officiating. Interment to follow in the Sunny Bank Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in Ralph's memory, the Fredericton Royal Canadian Legion, Pine Grove Nursing Home, NB Heart and Stroke Foundation and the NB Lung Association have been suggested. A legion tribute service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 7 PM. [The Daily Gleaner]
