SIMON, BILL JR. - 1949-2006 - On Sunday, August 13, 2006, William John Simon Jr. (Bill Simon) passed away suddenly at the age of 57 years in a tragic motorcycle accident near Barriere, British Columbia. He is survived by his wife, Tracy Tomma of Kamloops, BC, his son Bill, his daughter Dawn, and his four grandchildren Ashoni Dawn, Colton, Gabriel and Shadrach, all residing in Elsipogtog (Big Cove), New Brunswick. He is also survived by his mother Sarah Simon and his six sisters, Dolores, Brenda, Berrni, Pamela, Colleen, Heidi, and his seven brothers, Luke, Rubin, Marcel, Conrad, Byron, Adam, Jesse, and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by four brothers, Jesse, Roger, Lorne and Benjamin; one sister, Marsha, and his father, William John Simon Sr., all of Elsipogtog, NB. Bill was born on May 26, 1949 to loving and caring parents (Sarah and William John) the second oldest child of a family of nineteen. During his short life, Bill had worked and held various executive and leadership positions (both in the Atlantic region and later in the Nicola Valley region and Kamloops BC), Bill was knowledgeable in Indigenous History and Culture, particularly Micmac. Bill expressed strength, leadership and a vision in regard to children and their welfare. This was evident through his work with the Tribal Child & Family agencies, where Bill displayed his honor and respect for all people in all facets regarding the children and families; Bill came to be known and loved as an advocate for children and families. Motorcycling complemented Bill, in that he was "a free spirit riding in the wind". Bill loved life and enjoyed this time with his one and only passenger, his beloved wife, Tracy. Bill will be missed by family and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2006 and Sunday, August 20, 2006 at the home of Dolores and Levi Sock, 25 Hill St. Elsipogtog, NB. Funeral will be held at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Elsipogtog on Monday, August 21, 2006 at 11:00 am. Place of interment in Parish Cemetery.
