ESSEX, Clarence J. - On Saturday May 8, 2004 Clarence passed away peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital at the age of 86. Born in Hamilton in 1917, Clarence was raised in Goderich and district. He is survived by his wife Marion (Washington) Essex, daughter Elsie and her husband Gordon Hulley and son Clarence Joseph. Predeceased by his daughter Myrna, a son Alvin and by his parents Ernest and Erma (Spain) Essig. He will be sadly missed by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Clarence spent a short time in the R.C.N.V.R at the end of World War II and as an engineer on the great lakes for a number of years and worked at Port Weller Dry Docks as a machinist from 1962 till his retirement in 1984. Clarence also spent a short time farming in Ashfield Township near Port Albert and was employed by Johnson and Mallough marine repair in the off-season. Mr. Essex is at the Morse & Son Chapel of the Morgan Funeral Homes, 5917 Main Street. The family will receive friends on Monday (today) from 1:30 - 2:30 o'clock. Funeral Service will follow at 2:30 o'clock at the Morse & Son Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
