CRUICKSHANK, Constance "Connie" 1922 - 2006 Connie died peacefully at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Saturday, August 5, 2006. She was in her 84th year. Connie was the beloved wife of Robert Cruickshank for close to 65 years and loving mother of Ginnie Boro of Ottawa, Susan and her husband Tom Casher and Jane and her husband Pat Furlong of Waterloo. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Seth Boro and his wife Jen, Amy Boro, Claire, Christopher and Gavin Casher and Lauren Furlong. Connie will be missed by her sister Shirley Knack and brothers James Gellatly and his wife June, Bruce Gellatly and his wife Audrey and Doug Gellatly and his wife Marion, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Pearl (Eagle) and Harold Gellatly; sisters Gwen Hainsworth and Audrey Weiler and brother Reg Gellatly. Connie will also be missed by her friends at Lanark Place where she lived for the past 5 1/2 years, as well as her longtime Bridge Club friends. Connie will be remembered for her gentle, kind manner and her strong independent nature. Connie enjoyed her work for many years with physically disabled adults in the K-W community. She was instrumental in the formation of K-W Services for the Physically Disabled (currently K-W Access-Ability) where she served as Executive Director for several years and which earned her the Anna Kaljas Award in 1984. Connie also assisted in the development of Project Lift (now Mobility Plus) to provide transportation for people with disabilities, a service which she used regularly once she was in a wheelchair. Friends are invited to share their memories of Connie with her family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on today, (Tuesday), from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A service to celebrate her life and faith will be held at the Church of the Holy Saviour, 33 Allen Street East, Waterloo, at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, August 9, 2006, with Rev. Herb Horsey officiating. Following the service, friends and relatives are invited to the Parish Hall for refreshments and a time to visit with the family. Interment will follow in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. Condolences for the family and donations to the Arthritis Society or the Grand River Hospital Foundation (Integrated Stroke Unit) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy and can be arranged through the funeral home, 519-745-8445 or In memory of Connie a tree will be planted through the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
