
KOUPRIE, Martinus March 23, 1925 - August 6, 2006 Warrant Officer - Canadian Armed Forces- Retired It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Martinus 81. Son of the late Martinus and Emma (Van den Bos). While on vacation in his native Holland, surrounded by family, Martinus took his last breath. Martin and Lies had been enjoying the past 4 weeks visiting and reminiscing with family and lifelong friends throughout Holland and Bretagne, France. To carry on without his quirky sense of humour is his loving wife of over 50 years, Liesbeth Cornelia (Van Spronsen). Father of Patricia (Gerben), Richard (Joan) of Holland; in Canada Karin (Lorenzo), Jacki (It didn't work out) and Martin (Dana). Opa to Sanne, Robbert, Merlijn, Josefine, Lorenzo jr., Kenzie, Antony, Stephani and Oliver. "Old Opa" to Quentin, Lyric and the late Kristian. He will be fondly remembered by many friends and family on both sides of the Atlantic. Martinus enjoyed a lifelong passion and career as a musician (bassoon, piano), primarily with the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a member of the Black Watch and was involved in various musical ensembles/orchestras as well as being a music educator to many, spanning several decades. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Friday, August 11, 2006 from 12:30 pm until service time in the Chapel at 2:30 pm.
