
VICKERS, John Wesley. 1919 - 2006. It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of John Wesley Vickers of Moose Jaw, SK on August 6, 2006. Wes was born in Dryden, ON on November 6, 1919. He moved in childhood with his family to Saskatchewan living first in Melfort and later Prince Albert. Wes was predeceased by his parents William and Myrle Vickers and his brothers Dave, Ab, Art, brother-in-law Jim Millar and sisters-in-law Helen and Hetti. He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-eight years Anne Vickers; his children Marion (Philip) Kraaikamp of Didsbury, AB; Peggie (Murray) Tysdal of Briercrest, SK; Catherine (Nicolaus Huber) Vickers of Essen, Germany; Patricia (Satish) Chadha of Surrey, BC; Lesley (Richard) Moffatt of Red Deer, AB; Janet Vickers of Saskatoon, SK; and Mac (Dawn) Vickers of Prince Albert, SK; his grandchildren Jo-Anne (James) Carter, John Kraaikamp, Mark (Shea) Tysdal, Claire and Kate Moffatt, Michelle and Tybie Vickers, and his great-granddaughter Elizabeth Carter as well as his siblings Marg (Alf) Bayne, Ruth (Russ) Marshall, Jon Vickers, Bernice (Dan) Van Vleet, and sisters-in-law Margie Millar and Bette, Ruth and Lil Vickers, and their families. Dad served in World War II with the Lord Strathcona Horse Royal Canadians and then worked for GMAC for many years both in Regina and Montreal. Dad enjoyed being a lay minister at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Regina and later St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Hemmingford, Quebec and served for over 50 years with the Gideons International of Canada. Dad's life was centered on sharing the gospel of Christ with as many people as possible, believing that "Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in His commands" (Psalm 112:1b). A Memorial Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 106 Athabasca Street East, Moose Jaw on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be forwarded to Gideons International c/o G.
