SKINNER, Malcolm Ian Early in the morning, on August 6, 2006 Malcolm lost his fight with cancer. He died peacefully at home in Oyama, surrounded by his loving family. Malcolm was born May 11,1949 in Ottawa and raised across the river in Chelsea, Que. He graduated from St. Patrick's College (Carleton) and moved to Vancouver in 1973, where he began a career in the restaurant business that lasted many years. Moving into sales and marketing was a natural transition, and he began working in the wine industry. In 1996 he moved his family to the sunny Okanagan. Malcolm had a warm heart and a generous spirit, and was always there to help anyone in need. He was a long time executive member of Lake Country Youth Soccer Assoc. and coached Jaime's team for several years, and was always a willing volunteer at his daughters' schools. He had also recently joined the Winfield Lions Club and Lake Country Citizens Patrol before poor health forced him to step aside. Malcolm loved skiing, golf, long chats with friends and a good glass of wine. Most of all he loved his family. He is survived by his wife and best friend Karen Anderson and daughters Jessica and Jaime, sister Victoria Skinner (Denis Fortin) of Vancouver, parents-in-law Connie and Elton Anderson of Oyama, and Karen's sisters Kathy Lye (Jim) of Toronto, Janet Anderson (Douglas MacLeod) of Lake Country, Nancy Anderson of Vancouver and Sue Anderson (Jeff Henderson) of Canmore AB. He will also be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Lyman (Bill) and Elizabeth (Betty) Skinner. A celebration of Malcolm's life will be held at 2 p.m. on August 26, 2006 at Springfield Funeral Chapel, 2020 Springfield Rd., Kelowna. In memory of Malcolm donations may be made to the Central Okanagan Hospice Assoc., 220-1456 St. Paul St. Kelowna, BC V1Y 2E6 (Building Fund).
