Born in Dumbarton, Scotland in 1920, Jim came to Canada with his family in 1930. As a member of the RCAF, Jim served in Radar Defence at Ucluelet, BC during WWII. He was a long time federal public servant with 29 years at the Royal Canadian Mint and the remainder of his career was spent at the Departments of Customs and Excise and Supply and Services. Following his retirement, Jim and Mary managed Castle Antiques and spent many hours antique hunting on the backroads and attending shows in Canada, the northern states and Great Britain. Jim was a long time member and Past Chief of the Sons of Scotland Benevolent Association, Camp Argyle #26.
