McLEISH, Laurie (nee Gillis) 1957 - 2006 Peacefully at home surrounded by family Friday, August 25, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Beloved wife of Rob for 25 years. Devoted mother to Scott, Sara, and Michael. Cherished daughter of Tom and Ruth Gillis. Dear sister to Kevin (Sally), Mark (Val), Nancy (Doug), Paul (Sandra), Stephen (Monique), and Tom (Sue). Laurie was also adored by the McLeish family, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, extended family, her special friends and all who knew her. We want to thank all of those who supported Laurie throughout her struggle, particularly Dr. Fung Kee Fung and the staff at the "chemo day care" unit at the Ottawa General, and the wonderful palliative care team led by Dr. Farncombe. "I am strong when I am on your shoulders - you raise me up to all that I can be" - all of us felt that way about Laurie. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 3000 Woodroffe Avenue (south of Fallowfield) Monday, August 28, 2006 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Tuesday to St. Patrick's Church, Fallowfield for Mass of Christian Funeral at 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Association or The Palliative Care Outreach Program.
