NIXON, Dr. John C. 1927-2006 It is with great sadness and disbelief that the family of Dr. John Charles Nixon announce his sudden passing on August 28th while flying his plane near Maniwaki (PQ), a passion he pursued with determination and enthusiasm in his retirement. His family, both those near and far, was his real love and ongoing concern. He leaves behind his closest friend and wife, Mary Nixon, his devoted daughters Norah, Donna, Mary K. and Olivia, their husbands, Neil, Jeremy, Ian and Ray, and his grandchildren, Chelsea, Mathieu, Trista, Charlotte, Kathleen, Colin, Patrick, Madeleine and Noemie. John was also very close to his sisters Norah, Peggy, Kathleen and Beth, their husbands and his many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by many friends and colleagues, especially those from his MDS Inc. and AMREF families. John's strength, wisdom, guidance and incredible generosity will be deeply missed by all - there were few around him who did not benefit greatly from his helping hand. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, September 21st, 2006 between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. at Le Salon, the National Arts Center, 53 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario. In memory of John, donations to AMREF Health Development and Flying Doctors in Africa would be greatly appreciated (489 College Street, Suite 407, Toronto, Ontario, M6G 1A5, (416)961-6981 or ).
