PLAYFAIR Allan Norman On Sunday, April 16, 2006 Mr. Allan Playfair of Calgary passed away. Born February 22, 1927 in Lacombe, Alberta to Gordon Playfair and Clara Morden. He left home at an early age to work in the lumber mill and seasonal farm work. He moved to Red Deer and worked for the Central Alberta Dairy Pool where he met Pearl Ellestad, and they married in 1950. He worked as a grain buyer until upgrading his education and became a power engineer. He then worked in Kitimat, British Columbia and then moved back to Calgary where he worked at the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, and then worked as Chief Engineer for CP Resort Hotels. Pearl predeceased Allan in May of 1975. He met Geraldine Savard while working at the Banff Springs Hotel and they have been together for the past twenty-seven years. Allan is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine; his three children, Larry (Narda), Daryl (Linda) and Stacy (Ruscel); ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at PIERSON'S Forest Lawn Chapel, 4121 - 17 Avenue S.E., Calgary with Elder Larry Playfair officiating. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made in Allan's memory to the Lung Association, PO Box 4500, Station South, Edmonton, Alberta, T6E 9Z9.
