ANDERSON John Kenneth October 26, 1931 - May 5, 2006 John was born on a farm at Edfield, SK and passed away at home at Fishing Lake, SK about five miles from his birthplace. His parents were Vigfus and Kristbjorg Anderson and he had four brothers - Eddie, Harold, Arni and Wayne, and five sisters - Thorun, Lena, Thelma, Anna and Elin. He spent his early years in Foam Lake attending school, delivering groceries and clerking at the Red and White Store and on graduation joined the staff at the Royal Bank. He was sent to Prince Albert but missed his Audrey so much he returned to marry her and they began their life together in Edam, SK where he worked for the Security Lumber Co. They were transferred to Outlook where their two children, Jim and Nancy, were born and where he started his lifetime career as a salesman for the Mutual Life Assurance Co., which later became Clarica. The next forty-four years took the family to Grande Prairie, Saskatoon and Edmonton. He quickly became an innovative manager and marvelled at his good fortune in finding a career that, in his words, paid him to talk to people. He was later inducted into the company Hall of Fame. John loved sports participating in baseball, hockey, curling, golf and horseracing. Music was a passion and he played his trumpet in dance bands from high school days to his last days. Among his community involvements were the Kinsmen Club, the United Way, Copper Jackets, Christmas Bureau, and any charitable function that needed his help. He was much loved by his wife, his children, his daughter-in-law Catherine and his grandchildren - Sheldon, Kelly, Emma and Lindsay. He had many friends, touched many lives and will be dearly missed. Funeral Services will take place at Foam Lake United Church in Foam Lake on Wednesday, May 10 at two o'clock. Narfason Funeral Chapel and Crematorium in charge of arrangements.
