LOUGHEED, Marguerite who co-founded the Lougheed Funeral Home and Flower Shop with her husband Gerry Lougheed Sr., died June 7 at the age of 76.Lougheed died of an apparent heart attack at her home following a battle with cancer. Born in Staples, Ont., Lougheed taught school in Windsor, helping her husband, who managed a local funeral home and flower shop , in her off-hours. It was here where she would receive the training in the flower business. The couple moved to Sudbury and opened the Lougheed Funeral Home and Flower Shop in 1952. Lougheed continued teaching until the business eventually demanded her full-time attention. Over the past 50 years, the business has grown, owing much of its success to Lougheed's vision and work ethic. Lougheed is resting at the Lougheed Funeral Home on Regent St. Friends are invited to pay their respects today (June 8) between 2 and 4 pm, and between 7 and 9 pm. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 9 in the former St. Clement's on Albert St. at 2 pm. There is no visitation Friday. Lougheed will be entombed in the Civic Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum.
