ROY, Victoria “Kwe-eh-daa-et“ Bernadette (nee Jacko) - In loving memory of Victoria “Kwe-eh-daa-et“ Bernadette Roy (nee Jacko), 58 years, who passed away at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home on Saturday, June 17th, 2006. Victoria was born on September 2nd, 1947 at Birch Island, ON. Her favourite pastimes were crafts, knitting, quilting and cooking. Playing bingo, watching hockey, baseball and Soap Operas also brought much joy to her life. She spent many years at the Native People's Parish in Toronto serving the First Nations Community. As a community service worker, she also aided the homeless, provided homecare, family programs and ensured that she visit the ill, especially those in hospitals. Leading an active lifestyle, she also found time to volunteer at Bingo Halls and was always at hand for her people showing her strength to live in peace to others. Beloved wife of James (Boy) Roy of Wikwemikong. Loving mother of Sandford Roy of Sault Ste. Marie, Junior Roy (Karen) of Toronto and Faye Roy of Hornepayne. Cherished grandmother of Lucas, Victoria and Vanessa. Dear sister of Doris Prince (George, predeceased), Helen Jacko (Lloyd Fox), Russell Jacko (Doreen), Francis Jacko, all of Birch Island, Nancy Recollet (Bob) of Sudbury, Caroline (Ignatius) of Birch Island and three brothers predeceased. Loving sister-in-law of Rebecca, Elizabeth and Cecile, all of Toronto, Kelvin of Sudbury, Chris, Eleanor and Michael, all of Wikwemikong, Patrick and Angeline, both predeceased. She was also predeceased by her parents Alphonse and Mary Jacko and her parents-in-law Onezime and Marie Roy. She will be sadly missed by all her friends at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home. Resting at St- Ignatius Church in Buzwah (Manitoulin Island) on Monday, June 19th, 2006 and then at the Community Centre in Birch Island on Tuesday, June 20th, 2006. Funeral Service at the Community Centre in Birch Island on Wednesday, June 21st, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Birch Island Cemetery.
