KAROLEWSKI, Irene (nee Slomczewska) - In loving memory of Irene Karolewski (nee Slomczewska), 76 years, who passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 20, 2006. Irene is predeceased by her beloved husband Eugene and infant son Tadeusz. Beloved mother of Edward, Teresa and Christine who will miss her devotion. They all loved her so very deeply and will forever keep her memory in their hearts. Predeceased by her mother Genevieve and stepfather John Chachula. Survived by stepbrothers Joseph of Minnesota and John of Arkansas. Missed deeply by family friend Al Hartley. Irene was born in Poland. She survived the hardship of World War II, including separation from her family and being placed in a displaced persons camp. She came to Canada to start a new life and raise a family. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a role model to her children instilling in them the value of hard work, honesty and integrity. She worked at the President Motor Hotel where she enjoyed her work and meeting new people. She retired early so that she could provide devoted care to husband Eugene, an Alzheimer's patient. Irene enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, being with her children, looking after her cats and tending to her garden. She shared her garden's bounty with her neighbours, who enjoyed her cucumbers, beets and pumpkins. In winter she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing. Teresa and Christine will hold dear all these precious gifts from Irene's creative projects. At the request of the family there will be no visitation. Private service. Interment at Civic Cemetery. Friends are encouraged to remember Irene's winning smile, outgoing personality and generosity. Donations may be made to the Ontario Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
