MENARD, Jean Louis (John) - In loving memory of Jean Louis Menard, the family announces with sorrow his passing at the age of 78 on Friday morning June 23rd 2006 in Sudbury, ON. John was born in Hanmer, ON in 1927 and was also raised in Timmins and Cornwall. He joined the Merchant Marines for Canada during the Second World War. On August 27th, 1949, he married the love of his life and best friend Rose Comtois in Noelville, ON. They began their life on Lloyd St., then Minnow Lake and moved to Levack in 1955, where they raised their family. He started his career with INCO at Creighton 5 Shaft rockhouse and retired as a Maintenance Mechanic Foreman at Levack Mine in 1975. Dear son of Louis Menard and wife Josephine Pitre dit Lajambe (Menard), both predeceased. Loving father of Michelle Gareau (Menard), husband Mike of Prince George, B.C.; Denise Menard of Burlington, ON; Giselle Trahan (Menard); husband Gary of Onaping, ON.; Gilles Menard, wife Sylvia (Lelliot) of Grand Prairie, AB.; John Junior (predeceased) and Donald Menard, wife Leslie (Sabourin) of Barrie, Ont. Cherished grandfather of 15 grandchildren: Dawn, John-Michael, Mathew, Anne Marie, Nicole, Elyse, Taylor, Brock, Mitchell, Sara, Gabriel, Jonathon, Justin, Joseph Daesha-Lynn. Great grandchildren: Rachel and Kate. Predeceased by his brothers, Alfred, Alcide, Albini, Arthur, Lionel, Donat, Laurent and sisters, Ernestine, Jeanette, Cecile, Alyne, Adrienne. He will be remembered by several brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews and cousins. John enjoyed spending his summers and falls at the family cottage on Ministic Lake. He was a man of many passions which included fishing, hunting and cooking, genealogy, but most importantly he loved spending time with his family, many close friends and relatives. Finally, John was a devout Christian and a follower of the Lord, belonging to st. Bartholemew Christ the King Parishes. Resting at JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME. Visitation Tuesday June 27th 2-5 p.m and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass at Christ the King Church, 20 Beech St. Sudbury 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 28th 2006. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, donations to the SRH-Heart Equipment Fund would be appreciated.
