SMITH, Charles Alfred, May 21st, 1916 - June 23rd, 2006 - In loving memory of Charles Alfred Smith. The family is sad to announce the death at Extendicare Falconbridge, Friday afternoon June 23rd, 2006. Born in Gabarus, Nova Scotia he served as a Sergeant with the Canadian Army overseas during World War II. Charles worked as a service manager for 35 years with Empire Motors, Gardner Motors and F&R Motors, retiring in 1980. Son of Howard and Edith Smith both deceased. Predeceased by brothers Gordon and Bruce both who served as Captains in the Merchant Marines. He is survived by his wife Mary (McGuire) Smith of Sudbury; daughter Darlene Smith Lapierre of Wahnapitae, son Daniel Smith (wife Diane) of Cambridge, step children Pat McGuire (wife Linda), Mike McGuire predeceased (wife Jenny) and Karen Crepeau (husband Jack); grandchildren Wesley (Candice), Tess, Sgt Mitchel Mayes of Air Force in Ottawa, Doug (Laurie), Greg (Poonam), Colin (Lindsay), Jason (Stacey) and great grandchildren Alyssa and Payton. There will be no public visitation or service. A private family committal will be held at a later date. Cremation. Donations to SPCA or Salvation Army would be appreciated.
