MERVYN, Frances (nee Matheson) - In loving memory of Frances Mervyn (nee Matheson). With an exit as quiet and as beautiful as she was Grandma took her last breaths surrounded by the love of her family, wrapped in the arms of her granddaughter Sara in the late evening hours of July 8th, 2006 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, just a few days shy of her 90th birthday. Frances was predeceased by her husband Howard Mervyn in 1957, her sons Sandy and Jim Mervyn as well as her daughter Laura Murray and son-in-law Aus Noakes. Left to mourn the passing of any amazing mother are daughters Gloria Noakes of Gore Bay, Joan Irving (Tommy) of Sudbury, Edith Reid (Patrick) of Winnipeg and Lois (Keith) Morin of Sudbury. Her son- in-law Larry Murray, and daughter-in-law Lyla Mervyn are also left to mourn her passing. Grandma's legacy will be forever cherished by 22 grandchildren and 26 great- grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Frances was born July 13th, 1916 in Elizabeth Bay, and was the last surviving child of Dora and Angus Matheson. After the sudden loss of her daughter Laura in 2004, Grandma went to spend time in the Manitoulin Lodge Nursing Home, where she was able to rekindle some old friendships and meet up with people she hadn't seen in years. In September, 2005, Grandma took an adventure and moved to Winnipeg where she spent the last 10 months living with her daughter Edith and family. Thank you to everyone who played a special role in Grandma's life. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Thursday, July 13th, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside committal service Friday, July 14th, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gordon Cemetery, Gore Bay, Ontario. (Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Thursday). “ A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man dies but once.“
