GOETTLER (Frank) Carl Hamilton 1929 - 2006 With sorrow, the family announces the passing of Francis (Frank) Carl Hamilton Goettler of Okotoks, Alberta on Sunday, July 16, 2006 at the age of 77 years. Frank will be fondly remembered. He was born on July 9, 1929 at Okotoks. He first rode his horse to school at Panima, west of Okotoks. Later he attended Okotoks School and Olds College. He also learned to be an auctioneer in Decatur, Indiana. Frank successfully farmed and ranched in the Okotoks/DeWinton area for most of his life. He was an old time cowboy in his early years sometimes trailing stock long distances. His family was involved in chuckwagon racing in the late 1930s and he enjoyed the excitement of the Calgary Stampede. Frank's hobby for a time was raising racehorses. For three terms (nine years) Frank was a municipal councillor in the M.D. of Foothills. He was uniquely suited to this work. He enjoyed it and those he met through this position very much. It enabled him to help people. His travels took him to Baja, California, Venezuela, Brazil and Australia. He saw many changes from the nights he used to ride to Okotoks to see a movie - only on full moon nights - to our fast-paced present day. Frank will be sadly missed by his family, beloved grandchildren, Morgan, Leah, and Britton; son Guy; son John (Geno) (Barb); daughter Pat (Edwin); his brothers, George (Isabel) and Ginger (Gerry) and many family and friends. Frank was predeceased by his dear wife Elizabeth (Betty); his sister Eileen and his parents, Margaret and Eugene Goettler. A Celebration of Frank's life will be held on August 4, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at SNODGRASS FUNERAL CHAPEL (Okotoks). The family would gratefully acknowledge donations to Frank's charity of choice, The Foothills Country Hospice Society, Box 274 Okotoks, Alberta T1S 1A5. Arrangements are in the care of SNODGRASS FUNERAL HOME (Okotoks) LTD. Telephone: 403-938-3111.
