THORNTON, JAMES MURRAY James M. Thornton of Central Hainesville and formerly of Central Waterville passed away August 30, 2006 at the home of his daughter in Central Hainesville. Born at Central Waterville, York Co., NB in 1905, he was a son of the late Amos A. Thornton and M. Annie (Hanson-Thornton) Burns. Jim enjoyed gardening, attending church, travelling and spending time with his family. He is survived by five daughters, Waneta Schriver, Hartfield, Gwen Christie, Noreen MacLellan (Len) and Delores Kaley (Merlin), all of Central Waterville and Edith Brewer, Central Hainesville; four sons, Arden Thornton (Marguerite), Delmont Thornton (Lorraine) and Zenas Thornton, all of Central Waterville, Alden Thornton (Pat), Mississauga, ON; a step-daughter, Kathleen Christie (John), Temperance Vale; a step-son, Quincy Grant (Evelyn), Mactaquac; 49 grandchildren, 93 great grandchildren, over 20 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his first wife, Willa Mae Thornton (Stairs); his second wife, Evelyn Minnie (Murdoch) Thornton; an infant daughter, Jacqueline; three sons, Vernon Andrew Thornton, Gerald Hazen Thornton and infant Ronald; three sons-in-law, Roy Schriver, Austin Christie and Hanford Brewer; two brothers, Hazen and Raymond Thornton; two grandchildren, Tony Thornton and Barbara (Christie) Wunsch and one great grandchild, Sabrina Christie. Resting at Temperance Vale United Pentecostal Church, 34 Pike Hill Road, Temperance Vale with visiting hours Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the church on Friday, September 1, 2006 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Terry Brewer and Rev. Don McCarty officiating. Interment in Waterville Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons. Active pallbearers will be grandsons Alden Kaley, Jonathan Thornton, Troy Thornton, Mike Thornton, Phillip Thornton, Marty Thornton, Wesley Schriver and Joel Christie. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of James, the family has suggested the Foreign Student Support @ Zealand United Pentecostal Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
