Raymond J. Cormier 1923-2006 MIRAMICHI, NB - Raymond Joseph (Remi) Cormier, husband of the late Edna Cormier, of Gardiner Point Road, Bay du Vin, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Sunday evening, September 10, 2006, at the age of 83. Born in West Bathurst, on August 6, 1923, he was the son of the late William J. and Ivy (LeGros) Cormier. He was a retired employee of the Federal Department of Transport, working as an Operational Superintendent. He was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Bay du Vin; a former member of the Vestry; a former church treasurer and cemetery committee treasurer. He was a Veteran of the Second World War, serving in Canada with the Canadian Army (Tank Corps A33). He is survived by two daughters, Faith Cormier (John DosSantos), of Fredericton and Lori Jane Cormier; two grandchildren, Kathryn and Marianne DosSantos; one sister, Sybil Lavigne, of Calgary, Alberta; four step-daughters, Jean Martinson (Donald), of Mexico, Arlene Minchella, of Mississauga, Ont., Evelyn Durelle (Rosaire), of Gardiner Point, Doreen MacDonald (Darrell), of Napan; three step-sons, Wayne Gulliver (Marva), of Gardiner Point, David Gulliver (Jean), of Gardiner Point and Lorne Gulliver, of Courtney, B.C.; as well as several sisters and brothers-in- law; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Anne (Gulliver) Cormier; his second wife, Edna (Johnston - Gulliver) Cormier; three sisters, Alice Ross, Lillie Meek and Rita Kavanaugh; five brothers, Percy, Clement, Leo, Gordon and Joseph Cormier. By request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The public are invited to a memorial service to be held from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Bay du Vin, on Friday. September 15, 2006, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Don Hamilton. Interment will be in the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors' choice, would be appreciated by the family.
