Vincent Duffy 1916 - 2006 Vincent Duffy, 90, of Hopewell Hill passed away unexpectedly on September 18, 2006 at the Moncton Hospital. Vincent was born in Germantown, Albert Co., N.B. on September 12, 1916 the son of the late John Edward Duffy and Susan Elizabeth (Dornan) Duffy. Vincent was a chef, having made meals for men working in the woods, construction company crews, CNR pipe fitting crews, Moncton Hospital, also having served the meals for the Queen Elizabeth's entourage at the Prince of Whales College. He won a bake off competition and was the best in New Brunswick and took third place over all of Canada, being the only man in the competition. Vincent also was the first chief cook at the Albert County Hospital and Forest Dale Home, having helped design the kitchen at the nursing home. He also owned two restaurants, Duffy's Dinner in Spring Hill and Duffy's Restaurant in Riverside-Albert. He was a cook in war times, being a war veteran. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Riverside-Albert , the Friendship Senior Citizen's Group and was also a member of the Albert Lions Club. Vincent was a very special man who lived his life to the fullest, he enjoyed hunting, fishing , trapping , four wheeling and going to his camp. He had a great sense of humor and was known for his story telling. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday with all his family and friends which he enjoyed immensely and he was able to share a dance with his wife, Kay. He cherished times spent with his family and was a devoted and caring husband, dad "Bub" and grandfather "Bubbie". He was also known as Bub to many children around the community. He took great pride in having taught all his grandsons how to drive. His family always knew they could count on Vincent to be there for them whenever he was needed. He truly loved being in the outdoors, just having spent two days last week out four wheeling and being at the camp, he was able to enjoy the Albert County Exhibition this past weekend and was on the Friendship Senior Citizen's float in the parade. Vincent was truly an inspiration to all who knew him and he will never be forgotten. He was the type of person who would want us to remember him by telling jokes and funny stories. Let's take a moment and remember Vincent's smile, his laugh and a story about the times we spent with him over the past years or the past few days. He will be deeply missed by his devoted and loving wife and best friend Kathleen "Kay" Duffy; his daughter Linda Butland (Claude) of Alma his three precious grandsons, Tony, Glen and Ryan and his two treasured great grandchildren, Megan and Tyler ; sister-in-laws Dorena Duffy of Germantown, Thabita Duffy of Oshawa; his step-brother Leonard Fenton (Beth) and his step-sister Marion Black both of Riverside-Albert; and by his extended family of Claude Porter of Germantown, Verna Steeves of Hillsborough, Esmond Porter (Marilyn) of Germantown, Elsie Kenney of Moncton , Carol Morrell (Herb) of Nackawick and Donald Porter (Marilyn) of Riverside-Albert.
