FRANKLIN, Margaret Isobel (Meek) - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret, beloved wife of the late John V. (1985) and mother of John R. (Linda) and Anne (Gerry) Bell. "Cookie will be greatly missed by grandsons John C. and Michael (Lynn). Born in Oshawa, Margaret was the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (McEachern) Meek. A charter member and past-president of the Zonta Club of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Margaret made volunteering an art, working on committees and boards throughout the Niagara Peninsula. She was honoured by her beloved Niagara Falls as the Citizen of the Year and by the Province of Ontario with a Bicentennial Medal in 1984. Retiring from the travel industry at age 75, Margaret moved to live with her daughter and son-in-law where her ever-present smile endeared her to everyone she met. A gracious and generous woman of great faith, we take comfort in knowing that Margaret has gone to be with her Lord. The family wished to express their sincere gratitude to the many individuals who enriched her last days. Margaret will be at the Morse & Son Chapel of the Morgan Funeral Homes, 5917 Main Street, where her family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Friday. Service to celebrate her life will be held at First Baptist Church, Pettit Avenue, on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment Fairview Cemetery.
