BOYCE, Alan Anderson at the Hotel Dieu, St. Catharines, Ontario on Tuesday January 27, 2004 after a long struggle to recover from surgery in his eighty third year. Beloved and respected by those left to mourn - he was husband and best friend of Janet, father and mentor of Ian (Robin), Gordon (Evelyn) and Cyndy (Paul Scott); loved grandfather of Alan and Kurt Boyce and Alex and Emily Scott. Born in Buffalo, he graduated in Business Administration from the University of Buffalo and was a member of a business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi, keeping contact with his brothers there till his death. He served three years overseas in the Signal Corps attached to Shaef (Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force) Fluent in French he was given the opportunity to spend a graduate year at L'Ecole de Science Politique in Paris. On his return he joined the accounting firm of Chamberlain, Care and Boyce during which time he was active in the Kiwanis Club and the Jr. Chamber of Commerce in Buffalo. Later he left private practice to join industry as a C.F.O. of a small multi-national company. He was a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, The American Institiute of Certified Public Accountants and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Alan lived all his married life in Ridgeway. He was a member and president of Welland County Childrens Aid Society before it became the Provincial "Family Services" and he was treasurer of the Fort Erie Non-Profit Housing Group. He was active in the Peoples Memorial United Church where he was treasurer for fifteen years and subsequently trustee. Friends may call at The Williams Funeral Home, 722 Ridge Road North, Ridgeway from 2-4 and 7-9 Friday. Funeral services will be conducted in People's Memorial United Church Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment Ridgeway Memorial Cemetery.
