THOMAS, David Victor "Vic" RCAF Wing Commander Retired RCAF, WWII Veteran, died peacefully on January 2, 2007 with his entire family at his hospital bedside. Mentor and friend to all 11 grandchildren, Steve, Mark, Karina, David, Patricia, Jennifer, Cheryl, Cathy, Greg, Keith, Kevin and family patriarch to his 11 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by sister Babs Perrin and brothers Robert and Cliff. Vic will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Joining the RCAF in 1935, Vic became an extraordinary gifted flight instructor, training inumerable young pilots during the war. Vic had a long and vigorous life including several years in France and his love of cottage life at Norway Lake. Despite a stroke 16 years ago, Vic kept his great sense of humour and sharp intelligence which will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, January 4, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, January 5 at 1 p.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.` Published in the Ottawa Citizen from 1/3/2007 - 1/4/2007
