SWANSON, Roy Arnold Sept. 16, 1917 - Jan. 4, 2007 Veteran of WWII as a Capt. in the Royal Canadian Engineers In his 90th year, following a short bout of pneumonia, Roy joined his beloved wife of 65 years, Yvette. He is survived by his brother Glenn (Mary) and his 4 children Don, Ray (Virginia), Len (Cheryl) and Denise Clement (Norm) with whom he had managed to develop the best type of bond a father can have. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren who have been regaled with his fun-filled stories from his past, and 4 great-grandchildren who will miss these stories. Roy was a civil engineer who enjoyed working with his hands, a combination that made him an extremely popular fix-it man with his neighbors and their wives. He prided himself on being a world traveler and bragged he had set foot on six continents. He volunteered at both the Red Cross and at his church, where he was well known as a bingo caller and as a financial officer. For those who knew him, we should charge our glasses, and toast a man who both loved and lived life to the fullest. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes at 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore Dr. and Baseline Rd.) on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 10 a.m., service to follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Foster Parents Plan of Canada. Condolences, donations and tributes may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com Published in the Ottawa Citizen on 1/10/2007
