CLIFTON, William (Bill) Bruce - At home in Stevensville on Tuesday, January 13, 2004. William (Bill) Clifton, husband of Lillian Dorothy, father to Victoria Ann (husband John Sperlins), Joanne Caroline Clifton and sons Michael and Jeffrey Grant (Bill's grandsons), Christine Elizabeth (husband Wayne Savage) children Jesse and Sarah (Bill's grandson and granddaughter), has passed on to the next phase after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Bill was in his 79th year and was married to Lillian for 58 years! Bill has always served his country. First in the Second World War where he served overseas for 4 years and 10 months returning just before his 21st birthday. Within a short period of time he joined the Metropolitan Toronto Police Department where he stayed until his retirement in 1977 after 2 years of retirement he decided he was too young and applied and was accepted at Canada Customs working at the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge. He then retired permanently in 1988. Throughout his life he was always considerate of the needy and went out of his way to help those less fortunate than himself. He was a wonderful husband and great father to his three (3) girls. Loved by all who knew him, including his sons-in-law Wayne and John who respected him and what he stood for! His grandchildren, Michael, Jeffery Grant and Jesse and Sarah Savage totally adore him. He will be greatly missed. BUT he will live on in the people he has touched throughout his life. He was a gentle caring person. If desired, donations to Dads favourite charity , War Amps, would be appreciated. Service will be held Saturday afternoon at one o'clock in The Williams Funeral Home, 722 Ridge Road North, Ridgeway Ontario (905 894 1161). Interment will be attended at a later date by immediate family.
