RITA A WILSON (Nee BLANCHFIELD) JULY 1, 1916 - January 14, 2004 We called her the QUEEN, because she was. She was a gracious Lady, giving freely of her love, time and possessions, to relatives, their children and many friends and acquaintances. She was born to Elizabeth Thibert and John Blanchfield in Cantley, Quebec. She arrived in Niagara Falls at the age of six. She was predeceased by ten brothers and sisters, Bertha, Edmund, Archie, Lawrence, Fred, Vincent, Margaret, Loretta, Eldage and Gertrude. She was the first President of the Lady of the Scapular CWL and a forty plus year active member of the Stamford Lioness Club. She had many years of volunteer work with the Red Cross, GNGH, Dorchester Manor and as a School-yard monitor. She, along with her husband of over fifty years, Gordon , (predeceased) of G.A. Wilson Plumbing and Heating were members who sponsored and entertained many groups from the N.F. Curling Club, the Hermes Club, Niagara Optimist Club, Lions and Lioness and the CWL. Those left to remember her are her son and wife, Robert (Mary) Wilson, Daughter Betty Brodie, Daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jack Netherton and Daughter and son-in-law, Bunnie and Bill Brandt. She was blessed with grandchildren Kelly, Scott & Jack Netherton, Pat O'Grady and Catherine & Peter Wilson. Adding to that are great-grandchildren, Ashley, Rachel, Zachary, Taria, Jefferey, Ian, Olivia, Austin, Kamran and Nicole. Resting at the funeral chapel of Hetherington & Deans until 9:30 Saturday January 17, 2004 then to Our Lady of the Scapular Church where the funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rite of Committal will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 Thursday and Friday. On Friday afternoon, at 2:30 p.m. family and friends may meet in the chapel for the Vigil. Rita's choice for donations are to go to the GNGH Nurses Fund and Meadows of Dorchester Auxiliary. SHE WILL BE REMEMBERED BY MANY FOR HER ACTS OF KINDNESS.
